Sulwhasoo has been hot in Asia lately. It’s the most prestige Korean skincare house owned by Amore Pacific. It’s no stranger to any Koreans and a lot of them swear by it. Sulwhasoo also made it’s entry to US market recently and I’m sure a lot of people will follow the trend. Sulwhasoo believes in harmony of opposite energies. Using Korean herbal medicine as a base and combined it with latest science to create skincare products. The synergy of the old wisdom and science helps to deliver the beneficial ingredients to us effectively and efficiently. There is still a strong believe among Asians in the balance of the yin and yang which will bring out the true health and beauty of the skin. Sulwhasoo’s wisdom in traditional Korean herbal medicine and it’s science behind defines itself in the skincare market.
I have tried their entire basic line (the yellow line), and quite like it. I will be back with reviews. Today, I just want to introduce 2 of my favorite cleansing masks from Sulwhasoo.
I have been told by my dermatologist not to scrub my skin as I have very thin skin. Mild peeling is always my option until I found this wonderful gel. This is a scrub in the form of gel with a lot of finely grained white ginseng.
The white ginseng doesn’t feel harsh on the skin at all. The particles are soft enough to spread on the face and exfoliate without creating any redness. My skin is very sensitive to scrubs. The gel is lightly scented with white ginseng aroma, very pleasant to use. When peeling is not enough to get rid of white heads or bumps, Sulwhasoo is my best friend. I use it once a week and my skin feels soft and clear. No drying afterwards.
Another great cleansing product from Sulwhasoo is their clarifying mask. I think this product is relatively under-rated. It’s the best pore cleansing mask for me. It’s a peel-off mask that purifies and clarifies. I had used similar products before but they were a bit harsh on the skin and dry me out afterwards. The mask carry a light traditional herbal scent like ginger and honey.
The aroma is soothing and zen. Not too overpowering and I quite like it. The texture is honey/ gel like. Thicker than White Ginseng gel and honey-like texture when spread to skin. The SA remind me to lightly apply balancing water and moisturizer before the clarifying mask to avoid pulling which hurt the skin when peel off.
I like the clarifying mask much because it helps to remove black-heads as a bonus. It was meant to remove dead cells but it did remove some of my black-heads. I’m happy. The skin feels soft and clean after the mask and it lasts a few days.
The SA recommends to use the White Ginseng Gel before the clarifying mask to maximize the cleaning effect.
If you want a gentle cleansing mask, I think Sulwhasoo can help you.
Have you tried anything from Sulwhasoo yet?

I’ve tried a few things from Sulwhasoo–I know it’s carried at Bergdorfs and Neiman Marcus now, but I got my products from an Asian beauty store in L.A. I believe I tried the Balancing Water and First Care Serum. i REALLY wanted to like them, but alas they both broke me out badly :/
I have the same problem when I first started using it. I realized that I can only use Sulwhasoo skincare product in the morning, when I’m staying in an air-con room for long hours. It keep my skin moist and supple. However, when I use it again at night, I broke out badly. Using Sulwhasoo for 3 months (only in morning ) changed my dry skin to normal completely. I don’t feel dry anymore. Try to use only in the morning and see what happen. My friend had the same problem and I asked her to use in the morning only. She said Sulwhasoo works perfectly now.
Huh, interesting! I will definitely that…if I can find the products
My mom may have taken them since I wasn’t using it
haha…seems you have a lovely mom as well. My mom is taking up my unused/ unwanted product too! haha.
